Hi, I'm Leanne

Why photography?

I have no deep or philosophical reason. It simply brings me joy.

Photography inspires me to see everything in detail and with a curiosity of how it will look through a camera lens.

The result is not so much about the destination or subject represented in the photo, but more about the feeling it can evoke.

Photographic art has the power to tell a story, to take us to another place, change our mood, and can really complement an interior space.

Where it started

I started photography in school, and so have wielded a camera in my hand since my early teens.

Later, when studying design (fashion), I experimented with studio work and darkroom processing. But my real passion emerged when I moved to Christmas Island, a remote Australian territory situated in the Indian Ocean. The blend of cultures and the unique natural environment provided endless material to photograph.

I then moved to my current home in Australia’s Southwest and have continued my photographic passion surrounded by wine country, nature and the ocean. I also love travelling, and photographic opportunities are a critical component of selecting the destinations.

My earlier design studies and a growing love for interiors enabled me to develop an understanding of colour schemes. So, often when I am taking a photo, I’m thinking about the final print on a wall, the story it will tell and the interior space that it will become part of i.e. colours, furnishings and textures that it will complement and vice versa.

My style continually evolves however, I do love that ethereal feel and calming effect that an image can provide. So I find myself trying to capture images that people can emotionally relate to and feel a connection with. A selection of photographic prints are available in my online store.
